Pride Month runs throughout June, it is a time to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community, reflect on the progress that’s been made, and raise awareness about the work still to be done to create truly inclusive communities (and workplaces).

As business leaders, it can sometimes be tricky to know where to start when it comes to showing your commitment to diversity and inclusion. To help, here are a few simple and meaningful ways to acknowledge Pride Month at work:

Show your support

Sometimes the simplest gesture can go a long way. Share a message of support with your team to acknowledge the importance of Pride Month and the role we all play in fostering respect and inclusivity.

Learn more and share resources

Here are a few great Australian-based blogs and videos about Pride Month to get you started:

Go rainbow

  • Update your workplace email signatures with Pride colours or share your support on LinkedIn or social media. (Check out free downloads from Diversity Days website)
  • Display a Pride flag or rainbow decorations in at your workplace.

Host a Pride-inspired team event

Bring your team together with a Pride-themed morning tea and enjoy a rainbow cupcake (or two!). You could also:

  • Ask everyone to wear rainbow or bright colours
  • Run a fun Pride Month trivia quiz featuring LGBTQIA+ history and pop culture (think questions featuring Sydney Mardi Gras, or Australian icons like Priscilla, Queen of the Desert)
